I wanted to blog something, something quick, but interesting, so I came up with this slice of randomness, it’s not exactly the most original blog post in the world, but hey, it might be of value to someone, so, here we go, my top 10 iPhone apps!
1 – Tweetie – This twitter client is amazing, smart UI, excellent features, and a nice degree of customisation. I paid for it (£1.79, in fact) and I think it’s worth every penny, so when it becomes free in the near future you will be getting a bargain.
2 – Facebook – A great little app that lets me continue my frankly unhealthy relationship with Facebook whilst on the move, you might want to think twice about turning on push notifications though, or you’ll regret liking that persons status when all the comments flood in.
3 – Ping! – Blackberry messager for iPhone, free inter-iDevice messaging!
4 – RadioBox – Radio is awesome and internet radio on iPhone is more awesome, I like this app because it allows me to listen to my friends internet radio station over 3G/EDGE as well as a selection of other streams I have added such as local stations.
5 – Peter Dickson’s Pocket Announcer – This app is pure genius, thousands of words and names mean you can get Peter to say just about anything, right on your phone!
6 – Internet Killed Television – Essential for stalking keeping up with Charles and Alli. CTFxC FTW!
7 – NatWest – So much easier than logging into my banks website or going to an cash machine just to check how much money I’ve got left or to see recent transactions.
8 – Angry birds – A strange game where some oddly shaped birds throw them selves at green pigs with runny noses in order to (presumably) reclaim entire structures which have been stolen somehow, incredibly addictive, you have to play it to understand it.
9 – eBay – I find this app immensely helpful when bidding for things on eBay, it sends you a little push notification when auctions are about to end or when you’ve been outbid!
10 – Skype – Skype is good to start with, but Skype on iPhone is great, it feels more natural than sitting in front of a computer, it’s like a real phone call and it’s all free! (when you’re calling other skypesters, of course.) My only problem with this application is someones decision (probably not Apple or Skype, but a carrier) to limit the app so it only makes VOIP calls over wifi, all I can say is, why can other phones make Skype calls over 3G, but the iPhone can’t?
And that concludes this pointless blog post, hope you enjoyed it, whoever you are!
P.S. I wasn’t counting the built in apps such as Phone, Messages, Calendar, iPod, Mail, and such, because I use them more than anything else and they’d take up most of the list.
I might delete this post after a bit, it’s kinda boring.
